Not Just Tourists Manitoba – Winnipeg wishes to thank Monija who took supplies to Cuba! Monija writes:
We spoke to the locals and they suggested that we donate to the pediatric hospital in Matanzas. The doctor herself came to the resort and picked up the suitcase.
She cried when she saw some of the tubes. She shared that they have 135 doctors at the hospital and that they have no supplies and many children waiting for surgeries. She shared that they needed all supplies when we were going through the documents.
It was important to us to bring the suitcase as each time we visit we bring as much as we can for the locals. I am from a 3rd world country afflicted by war and can understand how it is not to have basic necessities. Also, last April, my mother in law ended up admitted to the hospital in Houlgin and though the doctors were wonderful the supplies were basically non existent.
It was such an honor for us to take this suitcase with us and share this experience with our 12 and 8 year olds. We travel to Cuba often and hope that we can do this again. Thank you all for your support.
