Not Just Tourists – Winnipeg, Manitoba has a story to share from traveller Lawrence.
“A young Cuban woman who is a friend and whose Mother is a nurse picked up our suitcase after visiting us for the day at our resort. The next day she took the suitcase to a clinic in a very small town, Valesco, where her Mother worked. Valesco, Cuba is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from our resort.
The nurses at the hospital opened the suitcase on a table to unpack it. They were so excited to see what was inside. They were most excited to see a Sharpes Container, they had not seen one for over 6 years. Also they did not have any supplies for broken arms and had been using leaves to bind them. They were pleased to see bandages they could use for this application. There were many supplies in the suitcase that they did not have for many years.
The paperwork is stamped at the bottom by the Doctor from the clinic.
The Cuban people work hard for long hours, usually 6 days a week. To be able to help in a small way is a privilege.”
