Thank you to Eileen for taking a suitcase to Cuba! [NJT Toronto]
“I have just returned from delivering a NJT suitcase of Medical supplies to a small family practice clinic in the village of Guardalavaca Cuba.
We took a horse driven buggy to the clinic from our resort and the driver proudly acted as translator. The nurse did not speak English but told our translator how appreciative she was of every item in the suitcase especially the insulin syringes and the box of gloves.
Our visit took place in the busy waiting room while the waiting patients looked on and repeatedly said “Thank You” or “Gracias “! Thank You to NJT for allowing me this opportunity again and to WestJet for supporting NJT!
My first introduction to NJT was at the airport in Toronto when the person in front of me at the check in had a suitcase with the NJT sign taped to it and was discussing the contents. A few months later one of my Pediatric patients passed away and her family had a large amount of remaining medical supplies which her mother wanted to donate to somewhere that they would be appreciated and well used. NJT came to mind and the child’s mom thought it was a great idea. I brought a surplus suitcase full of the remaining medical supplies to a Travel Show where NJT where speaking and collecting donated suitcases. Since then I have been donating supplies and travelling with NJT suitcases when possible always thinking of it as the legacy of a special needs child who was not able to travel but was able to give a special gift!”
