Big thank you to Eileen and Dave for taking 2 more suitcases, this time to Cayo Coco, Cuba! [NJT Toronto]
Our trip was to Cayo Coco, Cuba. As Cayo Coco is a tourist resort island, our plan was to take our NJT suitcases to a small village on the mainland coast. I knew there was a village at the end of the causeway to Cayo Coco.
We spoke to a man who worked on the reception desk at the resort and gave him the NJT letter in Spanish to read and the one which listed the contents of the suitcases. He lived in the village I wanted to go to and was absolutely thrilled that we were taking the supplies there and he arranged for an English speaking Taxi driver.
We went to Isla De Turiguano and delivered both NJT suitcases of medical supplies to Consultorio # 3 .The original plan was to go to a second Consultorio in the same village but It was not open that day. Dr. Yailed Santana Depestre and her Nurse were thrilled with the contents of the suitcases especially the boxes and packages of gloves ! Again we had our Taxi driver to translate and there was a patient fluent in English who said after her appointment she would remain and label everything in Spanish . Again we felt privileged to be able to provide NJT medical supplies to the Cuban Medical Practitioners who really appreciate and are genuinely grateful for the support.
