“I am participating in a missions trip during my time here, so we have definitely had some great adventures and really fun days working at a school in one of the communities here, playing with the kids, and getting to know the locals. I have attached the photos that we took at the hospital, and it was interesting to see how different the conditions were here compared to Canada. There were about 6 people per room and no dividers, bed sheets, and it was not nearly as clean or large as the hospitals we have in Canada. The staff were all very appreciative of the donations, and everyone we met was very kind.
For me, it was important to take a suitcase because I love the community here in Barahona, and I want everyone to be able to have access to healthcare. I know that in places like this, it can be difficult to get certain medical supplies, which can be detrimental for those who are sick and in need, so I was happy to be able to assist by providing them with some of these donations that they can now use to continue to serve this community.
Thank you so much for providing me with the opportunity to give back to this community! I look forward to working with NJT again in the future. 🙂
