Great efforts from Mike Janiga and Jonathon Pinto, Medellin, Colombia:
I had a fabulous vacation. The people of Medellin are extremely friendly. In particular, we met Marcos Kaseman who is the founder of the Angeles De Medellin Foundation and Laura Saldarriaga a medical student at a local university. Angeles De Medellin Foundation runs programs in support of the most underprivileged children and families in Medellin. He took the suitcase with medical supplies to a village called Tamesis where it is needed the most.
I’ve provided his contact information below and I would recommend that NJT volunteers traveling to Colombia get in touch with Marcos at Angeles De Medellin.
The hardest part of the trip was determining where to deliver the goods. We wanted to make sure that those who needed them the most would get them.
It was important to take the suitcase so that I could take advantage of our trip to help less fortunate people. This was something that seemed easy enough to do but would make a huge difference in the lives of other people. A lot of work went into donating these supplies, packing them into suitcases and distributing them. Being a part of something like this is really special and I’ll certainly do it again.
