Long time NJT supporter and traveller, Pamela Thomspon, passes the 5 year mark of supplying suitcases to Cuba!!! Big round of applause for your continued contributions to our mission! You are an inspiration to us all at Not Just Tourists.
“I have been going to Cuba off & on since 1976, the last few years once or twice a year to the same resort. For the past 5 years I have carried a large suitcase filled with medical supplies for the Clinic in Varadero or Faustina Perez hospital in Matanzas. (Thank heavens for seniors sales!)
This year, my friend Robin & I took NJT TO suitcases plus children’s meds. As we drove from the airport, our driver told us of a small polyclinic in a poor enclave of Varadero. We went directly there to meet Dr Nuria who runs Polyclinico Ramon Martinez in Boca Camarioca, which is a tiny building just off the main road. She does everything including surgery for the neighbourhood. The nurse and patients were so excited, and Dr. Nuria wept with joy! Delivery was more fun than wearing an air cast for gifting last fall!
