Day 2. First stop, Faustino Perez Hospital. I have been here once before, but today we were given a tour of the Palliative unit and the ICU. We brought 29 50 pound bags of supplies. The staff were so thankful. Dr. Elizabeth Diaz Vazquez is one amazing woman. I met Dr Diaz through Jennifer last year. I had brought surgical supplies and Jennifer connected me to Dr. Diaz. She did not know I was on this trip with Jennifer so I was able to surprise her.
Also, as a group we took pause to have a moment of silence to honor Remembrance Day.
Second stop was to the children’s hospital. More supplies delivered, the director stated it was probably 6 months worth of supplies. We met some tiny babies in the ICU. It was an emotional visit
Third stop was to a maternity home. This home offers assistance to high risk pregnancies and also to young girls that have been displaced from their families due to their pregnancy. We had a big group baby shower and gifted all the moms to be with many gifts for themselves and their babies when they arrive.
Another amazing day.
