The deliver of the luggage went great! I’ve attached a photo. In the end, I delivered it to a Maternity Hospital that I found just a 15 min walk from my hotel, which is the largest maternity hospital in Mongolia so thought it would be good to go to. When I arrived, it was a bit tricky as no one spoke English so seeing a random foreign woman with a big backpack on her back roaming around the entrance/lobby saying ‘donation’ was a little strange I’m sure! Through the international ‘language’ of charades and hand gestures, I was finally put in touch with the Medical Director (seen in the photo). She was very lovely, spoke a bit of English and was very appreciative of the donation. I believe they have over 400 doctors working there and assist in almost 20,000 births per year and not enough medical supplies to support this so the donation, even if small, was very welcomed.
I have all the MD’s contact details, hospital name and address etc which I can provide to you. It’s in my last bag that I need to unpack this week : ) She mentioned she was going to reach out to you to say thanks for the donation.
Cheers,
Julie [NJT Toronto]
