“We had no problems with the suitcase. It was actually the first one off the plane it seemed. Unfortunately the rest of our luggage was last. I am sure it was a coincidence.
However after talking to someone who worked at the resort and asking which clinic she recommended, we were told that the government takes the supplies and resells them. She suggested we take them to a church which redistributes them in the countryside.
We had already planned on taking additional stuff (glasses, some other medical supplies etc..) to Saint Elvira located in Varadero so that was where we took the suitcase.
We talked to the secretary there and he was very appreciative. I am sure we did the “right thing” and we would do it again next year with more supplies.
I hope we can do more for the organization and spread the word any way we can.
