This is from Kathy Clark of Glendora who, along with her fellow medical professionals, took 250 lbs of supplies on their medical mission to Guatemala.
“Because of COVID and lack of vaccination in the area we were in this year we had to screen all of the patients before they could be seen which took a little longer. We were still able to provide care in 4.5 days for 880 patients. We did 140 surgeries! We had a great team this year and will likely go to the same location next year. The hard part was getting there. We could not get on a direct flight to Guatemala City from LAX so had to take an 12:30 AM flight from LAX to Atlanta, have a 2.5 hour layover there and then to Guatemala City and then an eight hour bus ride to Xela (at 8,000 feet – it was really cold at night – around 40 and there was no heat. It’s all part of the adventure! I cannot thank you enough for what you do and all of your help getting us supplies. Thanks again for all of your hard work with the supplies. Warm regards, Kathy”.
