NEW CHAPTER: NJT Portsmouth, Virginia

Hello all, my name is Kelly, and I am thrilled to be leading the newest NJT Chapter in Portsmouth, Virginia. My decision to lead NJTP stemmed from my most recent trip to Cuba, along with my years of community organizing. Witnessing the resilience of the Cuban people and their groundbreaking achievements in healthcare and education inspired me to take on a leadership role in continuing to build international networks and support.

One memorable visit was to a women’s health center in Caimito, where staff provided exceptional prenatal care despite limited resources. The experience highlighted how everyday items we take for granted, such as basic medical supplies, can have a profound impact where needs are greatest. Bringing a suitcase of aid was more than a requirement; it was also a small but meaningful act of reciprocity. My initial experience with receiving a suitcase from NJT Orange Beach and conversations with fellow chapter leaders also deepened my resolve to continue growing the network of material aid in Portsmouth, which is why I’m honored to lead efforts in NJTP, taking tangible action in support of a more thriving world.
Whether you’re new to NJT or have been involved for years, I invite you to join us in building bridges—one suitcase at a time.
